Parents' Night: Talking to Our Kids about Gender

Trans Youth Awareness Week

“Pink or blue?” “Boy or girl?” “Trucks or tiaras?”

When children come into our lives, many of us encounter questions and assumptions about our babies’ gender, toy and colour preferences, and personalities.

However, many parents and caregivers quickly learn that there is more to gender than two rigid boxes! As understandings of gender continue to shift and change, how can parents and caregivers ensure that we have the right information? How do we talk to our kids about gender in accurate and developmentally appropriate ways? How do we support the gender creative children and transgender youth in our lives? Join us for an evening with child psychologist Ashleigh Yule, as we explore the gender revolution, equip ourselves with evidence-based tools to better understand gender, and learn how to navigate conversations about gender with our children.

Please consider donating $10 as admission to this event. Registration is required.

This event is being hosted as part of Skipping Stone Foundation's Trans Youth Awareness Week running May 26 to June 4, 2017.
