The Group:

We meet the first Tuesday of every month. We begin at 6:00 p.m. and finish at 7:30 p.m.

Gender Creative Famlies Night is a monthly support group for parents and guardians of gender creative children under the age of 14. This is a drop-in group where new families are welcome to join at any point throughout the year. Gender creative children are kids who express their gender in ways that are different than what might be expected based on their assigned sex at birth. This includes children who may be questioning their gender, or may identify as transgender, gender non-conforming, gender independent, gender fluid, gender-queer, non-binary, or Two-Spirit.

This group is an opportunity for caregivers to share stories, support each other in a non-judgmental atmosphere, and learn more about how to support their gender creative kids. The group is facilitated by an educator from Calgary Sexual Health Centre as well as Ashleigh Yule (R. Psych.) and includes some resource sharing as well as discussion time.

Free Child Care is provided in a separate room during the group. Childcare is run by staff from Families Matter and volunteers who have extensive experience working with gender creative kids. Many caregivers voice that they have difficulty finding spaces for their kids to connect with other children who share these experiences. This group also provides a safe space for kids to play and hang out with other gender creative children while parents and guardians meet. Siblings are always welcome to attend.

This group is open to only families of gender creative children. Please RSVP so we know who to expect at each meeting.
