The KidBrain workshop series are straightforward workshops for those who teach children of various ages and stages. It is intended for participants who work on the front lines with children and who want to learn more about:
- General child development
- What is fair to expect from children at various developmental stages
- Effective strategies to engage students accordingly
The session will provide basic information and fun, hands-on activities to help participants conceptualize development as it applies to their work with children. We will overview the kid brain throughout childhood and adolescence and look at how biological factors interact with environmental factors to impact learning. We will also review evidence-based information about common issues of childhood and adolescence that participants may encounter in their work (e.g., ADHD, learning disorders, giftedness, autism spectrum disorder, LGBTQ issues). This workshop will support participants in their planning for students with diverse needs.
